Woodwinds & Brass Lessons
WOODWINDS AND BRASS LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS

We teach private woodwind lessons (flute, clarinet and saxophone) and brass lessons (trumpet, french horn, trombone, and tuba) for all levels. Researchers agree that learning to play an instrument improves test scores, helps students with higher math achievement, and builds self-confidence. Music study also improves coordination and problem solving, increases fine motor development, and much more. Learning music also fosters the basic intrinsic value of developing a love and joy for the arts and music. Performances are available for each level of study.

PRIVATE WOODWINDS AND BRASS LESSONS: Ages 8 and older.

In a private woodwinds or brass lesson, the teacher has the opportunity to help the student individually for the entire lesson time, and creates each lesson personally for the student depending on their skill level and goals. We teach all styles of music, from beginning basics through baroque, classical, popular, jazz, and familiar songs… you name it!

We design our private woodwinds or brass lessons for students to progress at their own pace. Students and parents have input about the style of music they would like to work on. The parent is welcome to attend the lessons, or learn to play along with the student for FREE.

MUSIC THEORY CLASS

60-Minute Weekly Group Class. Learn the fundamentals of harmony by furthering your music theory background! This class is perfect for anyone who wants to learn music theory, whether they already play an instrument, or are looking to expand the depth of their musical knowledge. When the student can read basic music notation and recognize common scales, the student will then be ready to learn the fundamentals of harmony.

This essential class features hands-on exercises and ear-training activities to help the music student explore the inner workings of music, presenting notes, scales, and rhythms as one hears them in today’s music styles, as well as to help the music student use chords effectively. The student will learn basic triads and seventh chords, inversions, voice-leading, how to use chords to accompany melodies, and how to create melodies that grow out of chord progressions. The course’s book with included CD will help reinforce lessons as the student begins to build a solid musical foundation!

In this class, the student will learn to:
• Interpret chord symbols so that he or she can create grooves, melodies, and accompaniments
• Understand the harmonic building blocks of modern harmony, as used in modern, jazz, and popular music styles
