“I’ve been taking guitar lessons with Scott for some time, and I thought his guitar workshops would simply be a review. However, I was surprised at how helpful they were, especially the “Pentatonic Scales for Guitar” workshop. Scott has a great way of simplifying music theory and guitar technique, and he packs his workshops full of ideas and tips that have definitely improved my practice. His lessons stretch me each week, but I feel like I’ve made great progress in a short time as a result. Scott’s sense of humor makes each lesson fun, and I’m always surprised when my time is up.”
“Thanks to you, Scott! The guitar workshop was awesome — as is your new location of the Utah School of Music & Dance. Anyone needing quality music and dance instruction in a great, creative, and productive environment should check it out. Thanks again, Scott!”
“I have studied music my whole life. Scott Miller, the Director of the Utah School of Music & Dance, is hands down, one of the best guitar teachers I have ever had. In the four years that I have studied with Scott, my musicianship and ability on the guitar has grown exponentially. He is driven, extremely experienced, and makes learning music most enjoyable. His genuine love for teaching creates an exciting, positive learning environment. These qualities, coupled with a tremendously talented staff, make the Utah School of Music & Dance the best place I know of to learn music and dance in Utah Valley.”
“The Workshop was awesome! I learned some new basic strumming patterns. I can’t wait to come back again!”
“I attended the Saturday workshop with Scott Miller and had a great time reviewing some basics with other guitar students. We also learned some more advanced techniques with Pentatonic and other scales. I had a great time!”
“Scott’s guitar workshops are a great way to extend your learning.”
“Scott’s workshops are always informative – and fun. We cover lots of theory, but most importantly, we get to put that theory to work with some serious jamming.”
“I compose music. It’s awesome to finally understand how to trade Secondary Dominants with Tritone Subs (substitutions). I can’t wait to go home and use this is my own music! Scott is a great teacher and explains very deep, complex concepts in a way that anyone can understand. Way to go Scott!”
“Today I learned how chords work to create beautiful music.”
“Great workshop! Loved learning the theory aspect!”
“The guitar workshop was very helpful, just like a private lesson. It cleared things up, and it answered many questions.”
“I feel as if Scott’s guitar lessons and guitar workshops are opening up so many new possibilities in my guitar playing and understanding. Sometimes it’s great to get into the meat of theory, and this was definitely meat!”
We just moved from Australia four months ago. I was in desperate need to get my children back in the routine of practicing their musical instruments. I called around and finally found Utah School of Music and Dance to help in my quest. The School was able to schedule my three children for music lesson all in one hour. Now this takes some organization… because each of them plays the piano, my eldest daughter sings, middle daughter plays the cello and my son plays the violin. When we started the lessons, my 9 year old son wasn’t interested in playing the piano. After hearing my daughters talk about their lessons, he in now taking piano lessons too. The teachers are well qualified; most of the teachers have University degrees in Music or are pursuing that degree. The teachers are “fun” and my children love to come to their lessons.

This school is great. Really knows what they are doing; not only with technique but with theory to back it up. They also teach you all aspects, playing, technique, and equipment. They also shape a love of music and are just excited to be there as you are!
