“I’ve been taking guitar lessons with Scott for some time, and I thought his guitar workshops would simply be a review. However, I was surprised at how helpful they were, especially the “Pentatonic Scales for Guitar” workshop. Scott has a great way of simplifying music theory and guitar technique, and he packs his workshops full of ideas and tips that have definitely improved my practice. His lessons stretch me each week, but I feel like I’ve made great progress in a short time as a result. Scott’s sense of humor makes each lesson fun, and I’m always surprised when my time is up.”

“I have studied music my whole life. Scott Miller, the Director of the Utah School of Music & Dance, is hands down, one of the best guitar teachers I have ever had. In the four years that I have studied with Scott, my musicianship and ability on the guitar has grown exponentially. He is driven, extremely experienced, and makes learning music most enjoyable. His genuine love for teaching creates an exciting, positive learning environment. These qualities, coupled with a tremendously talented staff, make the Utah School of Music & Dance the best place I know of to learn music and dance in Utah Valley.”

“I compose music. It’s awesome to finally understand how to trade Secondary Dominants with Tritone Subs (substitutions). I can’t wait to go home and use this is my own music! Scott is a great teacher and explains very deep, complex concepts in a way that anyone can understand. Way to go Scott!”

We just moved from Australia four months ago. I was in desperate need to get my children back in the routine of practicing their musical instruments. I called around and finally found Utah School of Music and Dance to help in my quest. The School was able to schedule my three children for music lesson all in one hour. Now this takes some organization… because each of them plays the piano, my eldest daughter sings, middle daughter plays the cello and my son plays the violin. When we started the lessons, my 9 year old son wasn’t interested in playing the piano. After hearing my daughters talk about their lessons, he in now taking piano lessons too. The teachers are well qualified; most of the teachers have University degrees in Music or are pursuing that degree. The teachers are “fun” and my children love to come to their lessons.

This school is great. Really knows what they are doing; not only with technique but with theory to back it up. They also teach you all aspects, playing, technique, and equipment. They also shape a love of music and are just excited to be there as you are!
